DO YOU HAVE THE THING? (10.08.-30.09.2009)
This collection of photographs serves as a documentation of an exhibition previously held at Kultuuritehas Polymer in Tallinn, Estonia from April 25 - May 8, 2009. People were asked to visit the empty gallery and bring "the thing". The visitors were not given any guidelines on what to bring us. The only recommendation was to bring something from their life that they have a nice relationship with. Any item brought to the gallery for the exhibition was given a tag where each visitor could title and describe their object. This act of personally selecting an object of meaning shows us a private side of these participants. We believe this is the root of culture.

The artists who collaborated in this project met while taking an academic course at the Estonian Academy of Arts. This course was taught by interdisciplinary artist Ernest Truely during the spring semester of 2009. Artists: Sigita Kavaliauskaite (Lithuania), Karen Lepage (United States), Eva Pelechova (Czech Republic), Joao Rolaca (Portugal), Ernest Truely (United States), Helen Unt (Estonia), Marijke van der Laan (The Netherlands) and Nicolas Verbrugghe (France).
